Perils of the Internet in India . In India, many children, especially in smaller towns, lead a very sheltered life. Unfortunately, the internet is misused and there are many people who try to take advantage of their trusting nature. There are no controls and regulations in place here.
Sometimes I wonder why people are starting so many social networking websites in India, I am sure that 80% of the profiles are fake. There is very little protection available for persons who are victims of cybercrime. Most people may appear to be decent, but you never know their true nature.Â
I may be older than most users of these social networking websites and extremely cynical about human nature in general, but I do not understand how you can make “friends” online. It is very easy to fake your identity, almost everyone claims to be a “student”, when they really much older. I have a forum with 6500+ members, and even regular members have been economical with the truth. Â
The internet is a great tool if you wish to earn well without being employed. Unlike almost every other profession or business, you do not need “contacts”, a very small investment and do not need to meet anyone personally to earn well. The biggest investment is your time, Unfortunately, few internet companies in India realise this, most just copy trends from Western countries. Â
